Ashi-Thai is Thai Yoga massage training that has been modified to use with barefoot massage techniques and bars on the ceiling are used for the therapists balance, support and leverage.
This flowing and rhythmic approach to Table-Thai massage teaches ways to passively stretch your client through methods of muscle lengthening, fascial release and advanced yoga like movements for the both of you. In this workshop you will learn dynamic postures to tangle your client into a stretch with effortless transitions; all while holding onto a bar for stability, support and balance. Save your hands from wear and strain, and use your feet for deep compressions.
With the help of gravity and leverage from your entire body, you will be able to adapt a comprehensive 90 minute full body facilitated stretching routine focusing on commonly restricted muscle groups and fascia planes that your clients of all shapes, sizes and ranges of flexibility will love. As a compliment to any Ashiatsu or massage session, and especially as a stand-alone treatment, Ashi-Thai is an adaptation of Traditional Thai Massage that revitalizes energy lines and leaves a profoundly relaxing affect by relieving muscular tension and improving range of motion.
Ashi-Thai is similar to massages also referred to as, Thai Yoga Massage, Nuat Boran, Thai Bodywork, Thai Therapy, and Thai Yoga Therapy. The differences with Ashi-Thai are that all compressions are given using the therapist’s feet, and movements into deep stretches are performed with assistance from the therapist’s naturally stronger legs, more so than with upper body strength. Also, to integrate into your existing massage, and cater to clients with restrictions for receiving a massage on a floor mat, Ashi-Thai is fabulous for those who prefer massage on a table.
No Thai Massage experience needed prior to this class – it is a wonderful addition to your existing massage and Ashiatsu repertoires. You will feel every compression and every stretch from the instructor during training so that you know what Ashi-Thai should feel like. Small classes limited to 8 massage therapists allow for detailed instruction and one on one time.
After training, your own self-study Ashi-Thai Certification process begins with documented practical sessions and testing based on the information provided in class. Helpful graduate services and a community of barefoot massage therapists are available for ongoing career support. To supplement and deepen your understanding of the technique, refresher trainings are available for graduates. Instructional video available for additional charge.
"Thai Massage is like a thousand gentle waves washing over the body... like yoga for lazy people. Instead of doing yoga, they do it for you."
